Melodies will include uncommon and challenging skips in modal, chromatic, and atonal contexts, irregular and changing meters, including note values as short as the divided subdivision of the beat, and 20th/21st century compositional devices (e.g. graphic notation). Rhythmic exercises (both performance and dictation) will include note values as short as the divided subdivision of the beat in simple, compound, irregular, and changing meters, with emphasis on odd meters and tempo modulations.
